Built a curved fireplace console with TV lift | Keystone Hideout
Posted By
This RV renovation was not for a specific client so I got to be as creative as I wanted to be. I had seen some curved console tables on Pinterest and decided that's what I wanted my fireplace console to look like. First I built the frame around the water heater for the TV lift. Then I built the side curved pieces on the fireplace console using 3/4" plywood. I got the rounded shape of the top and bottom pieces by tracing a bucket. I cut those pieces out using a jigsaw. Then I stapled plywood slats at and angle to the curved pieces to provide support for the Pole Wrap. Then I made the frame for the fireplace itself and screwed it into the side curved pieces. Next we added the Pole Wrap using construction adhesive and 18 gauge brad nails. David routed the opening for the fireplace. We kept the front curved section for the fireplace separate from the TV frame so we could paint it outside and install it on top of the LVP flooring. This way we didn't have to worry about curved trim for shoe molding. The top of the console is 5 pieces, the back is one piece about 11.5" deep, next the part that raises up for the TV is about 9" deep, I cut a 2" piece off on both sides of this piece and permanently mounted them so the lid doesn't rub on the wall when the TV raises. The front piece was about 7" deep, I used the bucket again to trace the curve on the two sides and then used a jigsaw to cut the curve. All the top pieces were sanded, primed, stained and polyed. I used a 36" piano hinge to attach the TV lid piece to the back piece so it opens when the TV lift button is pushed.
